Itterbeck
The name Itterbeck is derived from the small river "Itter". There are extensive heathlands and woodlands in and around Itterbeck. There is a Protestant church in the Egge district, which is looked after by the parish of Uelsen. A special attraction is the "Egger Riese", an erratic boulder weighing several tons that was washed up here during the Ice Age.
Over the years, Itterbeck has developed from a farming community into a mixed-structure municipality with several medium-sized businesses and spacious housing estates.
Itterbeck also has a lot to offer tourists: In 2004, the "Hof für Heimatpflege" was created on the initiative of the "Itterbeck und Umgebung" local history association and with the financial support of the municipality and other funding bodies. A great deal of voluntary work has also gone into restoring historical buildings or erecting new ones and furnishing them with numerous valuable relics from times long past.
