The "Golden Cup" was found in Gölenkamp in 1840 by the farmer Pamann. Today, the precious piece is privately owned and a replica can be viewed in the Old Town Hall in Uelsen. The golden cup was found on the Spöllberg, a heath landscape with Bronze Age elevations. The artist Luciano Fabro used the Spöllberg as part of the "kunstwegen" art project to lay a 240 m long steel anchor chain around the burial mound in 1999. The "Tumulus" art project was born. From the Spöllberg (53.2 m above sea level) you have a magnificent panoramic view over the county as far as Lingen in Emsland.

Coat of arms of the municipality of Gölenkamp
In gold, a red, three-pointed church banner with three rings, accompanied by two red acorns under the lateral bibs and topped with a golden cup, rounded at the bottom, the wall of which is decorated with bulges and rows of balls. Gölenkamp was first mentioned as "Gutelinchem" in the Werden Heberegisters around 1050. The place name later changed via Godelingham, Godelingkamp to Golenkamp and Gölenkamp (see Abels, die Ortsnamen des Emslandes, Paderborn 1927, p. 37). According to Max von Spießen (Wappenbuch des westfälischen Adels p. 59, Taf. 143), the coat of arms of the Lords of Godelinchem from the 13th/14th century shows a church banner with three rings without a pole. In 1840, a farmer found the Gölenkamp gold cup, which dates back to around 1500 BC and is one of the most important pieces of evidence from the early Bronze Age. It has been in the possession of the Prince of Bentheim ever since. The coat of arms combines the church banner from the coat of arms of the Lords of Godelinchem with the Gölenkamp gold cup. The two acorns represent the districts of Haftenkamp and Hardinghausen. The colors red and gold are the coat of arms colors of the Counts and Princes of Bentheim. They show that the municipality belonged to the former county and today's district of Grafschaft Bentheim. Design and execution: Dr. Ulf-Dietrich Korn, Münster, 1991.
